First day of school is upon our family again. Matthew and Ricky are the early ones, leaving the house at 7:35 and getting home around 2:30. Emma goes later, at 8:35 a.m. for one more year. Matthew and Emma were excited. Matthew more nervous than anything. We have gone over his schedule and we met all of his teachers last night. He was so brave (for him). He introduced himself to each teacher and shook their hands. His homeroom teacher, Mrs. Lenser, said he had to be a Swabb (he had only used his first name). She said he looked just like Ricky. He found his locker and got his stuff in it. Matthew has a calendar in his room where he plans to keep notes on his upcoming assignments and other things. I hope he can stay with it and keep himself organized this year.
Emma was just Emma. She went right into class, found where her school box went, found her folder and then wandered around, talking to old friends. She was happy to see Miss Coleman and told her she had MI rocks to bring in for her.
And Miss Coleman... well, this is the last year we will have with her. It will have been 9 years total with the same teacher. We love her and this year will be bittersweet.
I think we are ready to start off the year strong. I hope it stays that way.
