These days we are getting back into the swing of school. Week days with a schedule, getting up earlier, having to get ready to go out the door instead of lounging, homework after school, trying to fit in sports and dinner in the evenings. The kids are adjusting pretty well, although there have been a couple of missed alarms.
Rough start for Ricky with not putting his name on a paper and then forgetting a homework assignment in his locker. His teacher, Mr. Caudill, didn't cut him any slack and he ended up with a 53% in the class as of last Friday. We had a discussion where he wasn't allowed to blame anything or anyone, but had to accept that he has been getting away with being irresponsible for 4 years and now it has got him. We took his cell phone until the grade was a "C". Little did we know that he already knew it would be a "C" by the end of the week. Little stinker. Anyway, I gave the phone back as promised and advised that it is a strict policy this year with no reprieves. We'll see.
I had a little one - on-one time with Emma last night while we did a training walk for the Challenge for a Cure. She chatted the whole way and we did math problems in our heads. Good days, although they are very busy.
